What are Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel is a beautiful way to improve the skin’s texture, reduce pores, foster a healthy glow, and improve acne. Dr. McCoy has always recommended chemical peels as a cost-effective treatment that delivers beautiful, natural results. Chemical peels can be very mild, moderate, or aggressive, individualized for you and your concerns.

The Benefits of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a treatment option for general rejuvenation, sun damage, texture issues, and acne/acne scarring by reducing the appearance of these issues on the skin. Mild and moderate peels have minimal downtime, and there are more aggressive peel options if the treatment requires it. Chemical peels are also a cost-effective option for skin rejuvenation.

Downtime
Needed

Mild to moderate peels require little downtime and have minimal side-effects. More aggressive peels can require a bit more time to rest.

When You Can Expect Results

Chemical peels cause a controlled injury to the skin so that you will experience some peeling after treatment. Therefore, 1-3 peels are typically recommended for maximum results.

What to Expect From Treatment

Chemical peeling agents cause a controlled injury to the skin. For 24 hours after the treatment, you will have a healthy glow, almost like you’ve had a little too much sun. On the second day, your skin will feel dry and tight. Toward the end of the second day, or on the third day, you will begin to peel. Peeling is similar to what you experience after a sunburn. Typically, you peel around days 3-5. By day 5 or 6, your skin will be dry and slightly pink. There is minimal discomfort during this process.
