How Laser hair Removal Works
Lasers and light sources use the principle of selective photothermolysis to eliminate hair and its potential regrowth without damaging the surrounding skin. During a treatment, light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. This absorption raises the temperature of the hair follicle and thermally destroys the cells responsible for regrowth. The attributes of the light (wavelength, pulse duration and power) are chosen to ensure damage to these cells and not the rest of the skin.
This laser is PAIN FREE. The laser slowly, gently heats the hair follicles, which reduces most hair types very comfortably. It is effective on all skin color types, including tanned skin.
What to Expect
Hair grows in cycles. Lasers target the actively growing hairs. Treatments are timed so that the maximum numbers of hair follicles are growing (when you can see new growth). From clinical experience, no laser destroys all of the hair follicles. Most of the follicles are destroyed, while others are reduced to fine hairs or are permanently dormant. Multiple treatments provide the best results. It is reasonable to expect 60 to 90% (or better) reduction in hair.
