How IPL works
During the treatment, the Harmony delivers pulses of light. The light is fluorescent (cooler temperature) and goes through a filter and is delivered to the target area of treatment. The light stimulates collagen, and selectively treats the displeasing signs of aging, such as: fine lines, brown (age) spots, sun-damage, broken blood vessels, and other flaws.
What to Expect
The treated area will be scanned with the Harmony, pulsing light to insure that nothing is missed. Multiple passes may be required, and is individualized based on each patients needs at Contour Medical in Gilbert. During the treatment, the skin is protected with a Zimmer chiller (blows cold air), which cools the skin. There is typically a glow to the skin following treatment and a gradual reduction in brown and red pigment. Results improve with each treatment. A single treatment takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the area. Dr. McCoy recommends a series of 5 treatments, which consistently delivers a beautiful and natural result.
