By using surgical sutures or Contour Threads, Dr. McCoy can provide a subtle, natural lift. This is ideal for a patient that wants to avoid a more invasive full surgery and doesn’t have a significant amount of loose skin. This approach is minimally invasive, uses a permanent suture and does require some downtime/recovery. Dr. McCoy has performed over 150 threadlifts, and strongly recommends a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate.
The new PDO Threadlift uses a temporary suture/thread that replaces the older technique for most patients. PDO (polydioxanone) sutures are used in heart surgery and they are fully absorbed during a 4 to 6 month period. As the threads dissolve, they stimulate collagen which is long lasting- expect up to 2 years of result. Dr. McCoy at Contour Medical in Gilbert, AZ, has shifted to the use of PDO threads as a compliment to full facial volume correction to deliver the best and most comfortable result.

How Threadlift Works
The procedure requires only local anesthetic, or even no anesthetic at all. Patients are very comfortable and there is minimal discomfort. The threads are inserted through tiny injection sites that don’t even require stitches- it is really similar to an injection. There is no scarring around the ear or other obvious signs of treatment. The threads can be smooth (support and collagen) or lifting (support, lift and collagen), depending on the area treated. After “lifting” the area, the micro-trauma of the movement heals like any wound, maintaining the lift for years. Results improve over a period of 2 to 4 months with collagen stimulation from the thread.
What to Expect
The treatment takes only a few minutes. Patients should expect 5 to 7 days of slight swelling, but typically the post-treatment swelling looks good. Many patients have no noticeable swelling the day after the treatment. Any swelling or minimal bruising is often better after two days- most patients have no bruising at all. Although there are mixed opinions on the threadlift and PDO threadlift procedure, Dr. McCoy gets beautiful natural results that are very long lasting. The key is patient selection and the doctor’s technique. Part of the key to a homerun with threads is combination treatment with facial volume. Dr. McCoy prides himself as one of the most skilled Arizona physicians performing the PDO threadlift at Contour Medical in Gilbert, AZ.
